Sun City Sew 'N Sew Club

Board Messages

Things have certainly been happening in the life of Sew N Sew in Sun City! Be sure to take a look at the photo albums on the website to see what our models looked like for the 50th Anniversary Fashion Show.

To get a full report of the May board meeting, check the bulletin board in the club's room.

Treasurer's/Membership report: Balance on hand May 6 $3506.90; CD balance: $3593.75; our current membership is 103.

Service projects: A delivery to Luke Air Force Base will be made in May. The Airmen's Attic is closed for the summer, but we still need to work on items for our fall delivery. Thank you for all you do to make this service project such a success! Eyeglass cases (1300) have been completed but are always in need. These are easy to make using a serger.

Possible purchases to be made: A suggestion to purchase new chairs for the room was made.  The cost would be approximately $80.00 plus a minimum shipping charge of $80 per shipment.  ($10.95 per chair). Discussion followed regarding the immediate needs of the club.  It was determined that the new cabinet lifts were more of a priority issue due to the possibility of injury if they are not repaired.  The board decided to pursue the repair of the cabinets as an immediate issue and postponed the purchase of chairs to a future date.  The Creative Quilters will be notified of our decision as they expressed interest in the purchase of chairs.

GMAIL/ACCOUNT:  A gmail account has been set up with the names of the current membership for the purpose of sending emails to the group.  It was decided to restrict access to the account to the president and 1st vice president. Members wanting to use the account should contact Deb or June.

The nominating committee for election in the fall was discussed.  Present board members were asked if they were willing to serve another year. The committee of Millie S., Dorothy Z., and Marilyn M. will follow up on possible candidates.

The RCSC rules and regulations for guests/visitors were addressed.  Guests are described as any non-Sun City resident.   A visitor is a Sun City resident with a current RCSC card.  There are regulations regarding the attendance at our meeting by both Visitors and Guests.  The decision was made to pursue this more diligently in January.

June reported that nearly 1/4 of our members are now part of the Embroidery Special Interest Group (SIG). A motion was made that the Sew N Sew Club purchase the Embird 2010 DVD tutorial costing $145.95 and make it available to all club members. Further details will be given once the DVD arrives.

Sewing projects/workshops: Suede cape class will be offered on May 18th at 9:30; clothing for Luke Airmen's Attic on May 20th and 27th at 9:00; and workshops on selected Thursdays during the summer.

We have much to be thankful for as we look around our club! Come and participate wherever you can.

We are what makes Sun City a wonderful place to call home. Have a wonderful summer whether you are here or at another location.

Deb
